Biden and others travel to Atlanta for Rosalynn Carter memorial

Posted by

President Biden, along with former President Jimmy Carter and other political leaders, arrived in Atlanta on Monday to pay their respects to former first lady Rosalynn Carter, who passed away last week at the age of 94.

The memorial service for Rosalynn Carter took place at the Carter Center, a nonprofit organization that the former first lady co-founded with her husband. The service was attended by a small group of family and friends, in accordance with the family’s wishes for a private ceremony.

In addition to President Biden, former President Jimmy Carter, and their wives, former first lady Michelle Obama and former President Bill Clinton were also in attendance at the memorial service.

During the service, President Biden delivered a heartfelt eulogy for Rosalynn Carter, praising her for her advocacy work and her tireless efforts to improve the lives of others. He spoke of her commitment to mental health and the important role she played in shaping national policy on the issue.

Rosalynn Carter was a trailblazer in her own right, serving as first lady from 1977 to 1981 and using her platform to bring attention to issues that were often overlooked. She was a strong advocate for mental health and caregiving, co-founding The Carter Center, and working to destigmatize mental illness.

Her work had a lasting impact on the country, and her legacy will continue to inspire others for years to come.

In the wake of her passing, President Biden praised her as “a remarkable woman who inspired so many” and praised her work as a “force for good in our country.”

As the nation remembers Rosalynn Carter and her legacy, it is clear that her impact on mental health advocacy and her dedication to public service will continue to be felt for generations to come.

In a time when the country is deeply divided, it was heartening to see leaders from both sides of the political spectrum come together to honor the life and legacy of a remarkable woman. It serves as a reminder that, despite our differences, we can find common ground in celebrating the life of someone who dedicated her life to the service of others.

Rosalynn Carter will be dearly missed, but her impact will continue to be felt for years to come. Her legacy will serve as a reminder of the power of compassion, advocacy, and service to others.
