What purpose do you think caprover should be used for? For me this app feels so much unnecessary as it's badly designed and lacks upgrade of apps.
I was curious about list of apps so I just tried caprover. I'm very negatively surprised how outdated applications are(e.g. gitlab 11 while current is 17). There is just no way you can make it publicly available. Upgrade from 11 to 17 is at least 30 minutes procedure while installation gitlab-ce 17 from CLI is like 5 minutes procedure and caprover does not have any option to upgrade?? Also installation of caprover itself and installation of apps feel like house of cards – I installed gitlab from safari and it totally broke caprover so I had to reinstall it. Sometimes I can't do anything cause some error message "server is not ready yet". There are some nonsense restrictions about DNS records, which prevent me from installation behind NAT, setting domain for app requires to be caprover's IP – after verification(why such verification omg) I can set it to the router's IP so I can have SSL by let's encrypt. From some reason default app domain cannot be removed – that means I can't just click on button "go to the app" cause it's some .local domain.

Can you do a video about a localhost (Docker + CapRover + ngrok) + custom domain? As far I understand, with this you can deploy this local PaaS as if it is online, and with your own domain. Is it possible?

Have you tried running this as rootless docker? That's pretty much the only way I run docker now but it doesn't work under rootless 🙁

I've used Cap Rover for over 3 years in production on multiple client applications, serving the backend and front-end in the same digital Ocean droplet. No serious problems except user error. I also use it to host many small projects on the same droplet. Thinking of trying it with vpsdime. Just keep it mind it shares the memory between apps so a memory leak in one will make all projects reboot but your web service should be built to recover from such an event.

Reborn for me! They make it easy to install all the different desktop environments. It’s had good performance on low end machines.

Manjaro also, same as reborn. Good new user experience.

Mint has to be up there! It is the os for all new users, stable, and fast!

Kubuntu is another great platform!

Finally, the vanilla arch install for those familiar with Linux. Fast and reliable with good support for snaps flatpak and aur!

Debian seemed good until it complained about amd pro drivers and would not install them.

Overall they are all the same, they all work well, and all can be customized to look the same!

I appear to be getting a shim and apparmor error. So weird.
