Pet Project: FastAPI + Next.js – Part 0, Intro

Welcome to our pet project series: FastAPI + Next.js

In this series of articles, we will be exploring how to build a full-stack web application using FastAPI and Next.js. FastAPI is a high-performance Python web framework for building APIs with minimal code, while Next.js is a React framework for building server-rendered applications.

What will we be building?

Our pet project will be a simple web application where users can keep track of their pets. Users will be able to add new pets, edit existing pets, and view a list of all pets on the homepage. We will also integrate authentication so that users can securely log in and access their pet profiles.

Why FastAPI and Next.js?

FastAPI and Next.js are both modern, fast, and easy-to-use frameworks that complement each other well. FastAPI’s simplicity and speed make it ideal for building the backend API, while Next.js’s server-side rendering capabilities make it perfect for building the frontend of our web application.

Getting started

In this introductory article, we will be setting up our development environment and installing the necessary dependencies for our project. We will also create the basic folder structure for our project and set up a Git repository to track our code changes.

Stay tuned for the next article in this series, where we will start building out the backend API using FastAPI. Happy coding!
