Creating a React Application with Vite, React Router Dom and Tailwind CSS

If you want to learn how to create a React application using Vite, React Router Dom, and Tailwind CSS, you’re in the right place. In this article, we’ll walk you through the process step by step.

Step 1: Install Vite

Vite is a next-generation front-end tool that is designed to significantly speed up the development process. To install Vite, open your terminal and run the following command:

            npm install create-vite -g

This will install Vite globally on your machine.

Step 2: Create a new React application

Once Vite is installed, you can create a new React application by running the following command in your terminal:

            create-vite my-react-app --template react

This will create a new React application with Vite as the build tool in a directory named “my-react-app”.

Step 3: Install React Router Dom

React Router Dom is a popular library for adding routing to your React applications. To install React Router Dom, navigate to your project directory in the terminal and run the following command:

            npm install react-router-dom

Step 4: Install Tailwind CSS

Tailwind CSS is a utility-first CSS framework that makes styling your applications a breeze. To install Tailwind CSS, run the following commands in your terminal:

            npm install tailwindcss
            npx tailwindcss init -p

After running these commands, a “tailwind.config.js” file will be created in your project directory.

Step 5: Update the project

Now that Vite, React Router Dom, and Tailwind CSS are installed, you can start updating your project to use them. Replace the contents of the “App.js” file with your desired routing configuration, and update the “index.js” file to import and use Tailwind CSS classes.

Step 6: Run the application

With everything set up, you can now run your React application using Vite. In the terminal, navigate to your project directory and run the following command:

            npm run dev

This will start a development server and open your React application in the browser.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You’ve successfully created a React application using Vite, React Router Dom, and Tailwind CSS. With these tools in your toolbox, you’ll be well-equipped to build powerful and stylish web applications.
