“You Got Yourself A Deal, Blackie.” – Django Unchained (2012) is a famous line from the movie Django Unchained, directed by Quentin Tarantino. The movie is set in the antebellum era of the United States and follows the story of Django, a freed slave who becomes a bounty hunter and sets out to rescue his wife from a ruthless plantation owner.

In the scene where this line is delivered, Django, played by Jamie Foxx, is negotiating a deal with a group of outlaw cowboys who have captured a runaway slave. Django offers to buy the slave’s freedom for $12,000, but the outlaws are hesitant to make a deal. However, Django’s quick wit and confident demeanor ultimately persuade them to accept his offer.

To break down the scene and understand the significance of the line, let’s analyze the dialogue and the characters involved:

1. Django: Django is a confident and skilled bounty hunter who is determined to rescue his wife. In this scene, he is determined to make a deal to free the enslaved man and further his mission. His assertiveness and quick thinking are key to convincing the outlaws to agree to his terms.

2. Outlaw Cowboys: The outlaw cowboys are a group of rough and tough individuals who capture and sell slaves for profit. They initially resist Django’s offer, as they are not used to negotiating with a freed slave. However, Django’s confidence and determination eventually convince them to accept his deal.

3. The Line: “You Got Yourself A Deal, Blackie.” – This line is delivered by one of the outlaw cowboys as they agree to Django’s offer. The use of the term “Blackie” is derogatory and reflects the racial prejudice of the time period. However, Django’s ability to overcome this discrimination and secure the deal highlights his strength and resilience as a character.

Overall, this scene showcases Django’s resourcefulness and determination in the face of adversity. By successfully negotiating a deal with the outlaw cowboys, he proves his ability to outsmart his enemies and achieve his goals. The line “You Got Yourself A Deal, Blackie.” serves as a powerful moment of triumph for Django, as he continues his journey to rescue his wife and seek justice in a brutal and unjust world.

In conclusion, “You Got Yourself A Deal, Blackie.” – Django Unchained (2012) is a memorable and impactful line from the movie that exemplifies Django’s strength and determination in the face of adversity. Quentin Tarantino’s expert direction and Jamie Foxx’s compelling performance make this scene a standout moment in the film, showcasing the resilience and fortitude of the protagonist in a time of great turmoil and injustice.

Either Django had somehow met an Australian person before or he immediately picked up on the pronunciation and was able to imitate it (he does this earlier in the movie, being able to use the word “positive” correctly in a sentence despite not knowing what it meant five seconds earlier). Either way, how different could an Australian accent be from an English accent after only 70 or so years of colonization?
