DLSS will always be better and won't be going away regardless of what Microsoft does.

I am looking to upgrade from my 3070 and I'm trying to wait and see if there will be a high end 8000 series AMD card, but even at that I am debating just getting a 4090. I'm in the fence because fsr isn't as good as dlss, so if this new Microsoft software comes out and rivals dlss, it will make my choice a whole lot easier

the newest gpu's should not by anymeans have to use a upscaler to get playable fps at the gpu's targeted resolution for atleast 2 years

I think Intel did it right with XeSS.
Make it so it is fully optimized for your GPUs so that result will be the best possible but also leave a decent enough version that will run on pretty much any GPU.

I think AMD should start doing a hardware accelerated version of FSR while also maintaining the actual FSR for everyone else.
Results, especially on FSR 3.0, are pretty solid after all, but still if they were to make it hardware accelerated it would surely be way better on AMD GPUs.

I'd love to see how good of an overclocker the GRE card is, particularly on the power and memory front.

Long story short, you have no clue what it is or what it does.

One option for DirectSR that came to mind for me was “direct” implementation in the resolution scaling slider. So have two sliders, one for output resolution and one for input resolution, and nothing more than that.

And just when i learned how to spell dlss

Time will tell on DirectSR. AI using GPU's has a much more practical future than psudo-real time Ray Tracing.

DirectSR is just API!
Each GPU manufacturer use that API and the end result is different by each GPU based on how each manufacturer implement it!
Just like normal DirectX we are usea to.

7900 GRE = 7800XTX

So another player enters the chatroom, M$ trying to get a piece of the pie huh! 😛 Well, if they improve the tech and performance without costing the customer too much or better, nothing at all… bring it!

A question to you @danielowentech …

Have you been experiencing ANY issues on an INTEL CPU based system lately?

I've been having LOTS of issues on my i9 14900K in ALL UNREAL ENGINE games. There's so little talk about it online and I am surprised there's barely any mention anywhere, especially in the tech tuber place, I only saw Gamer Meld talking about it and it wasn't even in his thumbnail! What's frustrating is even with all the possible fixes, it doesn't stay stable. Changing BIOS version, disabling XMP and even reducing the Performance Core Ratio to X53, Unreal Engine based games still crash time to time. I changed to the exact CPU and started a RMA process with Intel. Thankfully they will refund me the amount but the issue still persist. An article I read says it affects mostly the 13700K, 13900K, 14700K and 14900K.

EPIC GAMES says it's on Intel's side to correct this and I tested my secondary PC that has the 7800X3D CPU and all's good there.

WTH is going on? This should be a major concern since the majority of games are developed on Unreal Engine…

Anyone else having this? I mean… one shouldn't have to do all this to run a game without ANY overclock!

If Microsoft is going to make this as a stable version for their OS, Agility SDK 1.711.3-preview then HLSL will have support of WaveMMA which of course the AI accelerators silicon I am referring to the BF16 datatypes that's only available in Radeon 7000 series GPU, If this is what they meant then it's the reason why AMD probably didn't want to create their version of AI Hardware Accelerated Upscaling because they are letting Microsoft to support this feature.

Kinda weird they called it GRE but it is now year of the dragon

Expect ridiculous prices for the Nvidia 50 series GPUs just like the 40 series or worse. Glad I was able to order a $999 4080 Super FE last week.

Fuck I just bought a 7800xt last night should I return and wait for the 7900 gre?

@Dannyflies

It sounds directsr is a wrapper of the 3 upscaling technologies which will provide a single interface to develop against and inject the relevant graphics dependency based off whatever gpu is present in the machine

@kingcrackedhen3572

Does this mean there’s a potential 7900 non xt non xtx non gre?

Frame generation and upscaling are gimmicks to not offer good generational uplift gpu generation to generation. I have a 1080p monitor and use DSR to upscale to 1440p and in modern games like Remnant from the ashes 2 I get around 50 fps which is fine.
