Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Perspective on Kissinger, China, and US Hegemony in Gaza

Posted by

President Trump’s recent decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has sparked outrage and protest in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza. While the move has been condemned by many world leaders, one in particular has spoken out about the implications of this decision for the region: Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia.

In a recent interview with Al Jazeera, Dr Mahathir Mohamad has criticized the United States’ role in the Middle East, accusing the country of pursuing a policy of hegemony in the region. According to Dr Mahathir, the US has a long history of intervention in the affairs of other countries, using its military might and economic power to assert its influence and dominance.

One of the key figures in shaping US foreign policy in the Middle East is Henry Kissinger, a former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor who played a crucial role in the Vietnam War and the opening up of relations with China. Dr Mahathir has been a vocal critic of Kissinger’s policies, particularly his support for Israel and his role in the destabilization of Middle Eastern countries.

Dr Mahathir has also pointed to the growing influence of China in the region, citing the country’s economic investments and infrastructure projects in many Middle Eastern countries. According to Dr Mahathir, China’s rise as a global superpower poses a challenge to US hegemony in the region, and could potentially shift the balance of power in the Middle East.

The situation in Gaza has also been a cause for concern for Dr Mahathir. The recent decision by President Trump has further escalated tensions in the region, leading to protests and violence in Gaza and the West Bank. Dr Mahathir has called for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, urging the international community to take a more active role in mediating the dispute and addressing the root causes of the conflict.

In light of these developments, Dr Mahathir has called for a reevaluation of US foreign policy in the Middle East, and a more balanced approach that takes into account the interests and concerns of all the parties involved. He has also emphasized the need for greater cooperation and dialogue between the major powers in the region, in order to address the underlying causes of the conflict and work towards a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

In conclusion, Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s comments on Kissinger, China, and US hegemony in the Middle East shed light on the complexities and challenges facing the region. As tensions continue to rise in Gaza and the wider Middle East, it is important for world leaders and the international community to take a more proactive and concerted approach in addressing the root causes of the conflict and working towards a peaceful resolution. Only through a comprehensive and inclusive strategy can the region move towards a more stable and prosperous future.

Jazaakumullaahu khairan! Wonderful Dr. Mahatir.
Muslim countries govt reflects the people. Unfortunately, Muslims themselves are mostly blindly follow Western/Indian cultures (music, movies, celebrations, banking, marriage ceremonies etc)

Very good discussion. Really important we value our leaders and amplify our voices.
One question missing however was the plight of the Uyghur community. I would have liked to hear Dr Mahatir's opinion on that injustice.
China obviously is aligning with Muslim nations for its own benefit, this should be used as leverage to address the Uyghur issues head on.
We shouldn't just rush to align with China no questions asked, the way we have aligned readily to the West previously, otherwise we could well be jumping from the frying pan straight into the fire.

I mean where does the Muslim hypocrisy end – a 94 year old as well as a 30 something year old
The interviewer is clearly enjoying a good lifestyle provided to him in the west and his distaste of the same society is so palpable- talk about biting the hand that feeds you
On the other hand look at the both of them romanticising China with all their awful actions against their own muslims
It’s so mind boggling- this massive BLINDSIDE these so called “thinking Muslims” have with their bad mouthing countries that welcome them against a country like China that has no qualms about banning their own Muslims from even observing basic religious practices

Dr Mahathir is the Father of Reversed Apartheid in Malaysia where the Majority Race suppresses the minority race. He has a hand in the 13th May 1969 Racial Riot in Malaysia whereby the minority ethnic Chinese were slaughtered by the Majority Malay Race. Facts are facts! Under him they even called themselves the MASTER RACE i.e. KETUANAN MELAYU (sounds familiar?).
