PHP will make you poor? StackOverflow 2023 Results

Recently, there has been a heated debate in the tech industry about the financial implications of choosing PHP as a programming language. The popular programming Q&A website, StackOverflow, has released its 2023 survey results, shedding light on this topic.

According to the survey, PHP is still a widely used language, especially in web development. However, it has been found that PHP developers tend to earn lower salaries compared to professionals working with other languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript. This has sparked concerns among developers about the financial viability of choosing PHP as their primary skill.

Many industry experts attribute this discrepancy to the perception of PHP as an outdated language with limited career growth opportunities. Companies are more willing to invest in developers with skills in modern, in-demand languages, leading to higher salaries and better job prospects.

Furthermore, the survey results also highlight the importance of continuous learning and skill diversification in the tech industry. Developers who have expertise in multiple languages and technologies tend to have higher earning potential and more job opportunities, regardless of the specific languages they work with.

Despite these findings, it’s important to note that PHP still has a large user base and a thriving community, especially in the context of content management systems like WordPress and Drupal. There are still plenty of job opportunities for PHP developers, and with the right skills and experience, it’s possible to have a successful and financially rewarding career in PHP development.

In conclusion, while it’s true that PHP developers may not earn as much as their counterparts in other languages, it’s not fair to say that PHP will make you poor. It’s all about understanding the market demand, continuously improving your skills, and seizing the right opportunities to thrive in the ever-evolving tech industry.

I work PHP and self employed for 8 years, although it is low cost, but I can do around 8 projects on time same time, means I gain 8 mainanance fees from 8 bosses, if it is nuxt3 or react native i guess I can handle 2-3 projects on the same time, that is fair…

Bro you can do literally everything with basic web development like html, css, JavaScript ( jQuery, ajax) and php you just need to learn all of them in order to do something and keep it clean. Not like me who asks chatgpt 100 times until it understans what i say because i didn't understand either the logic of how it works lol

You said 1:45 red means a language is loved by actual users and blue is admired by non-users. You then claim rust is the most admired pointing to the red dot 1:54.
