DIY Water bottle cap rocket experiment
Looking for a fun and easy experiment to try at home? Why not make your own water bottle cap rocket! This simple DIY project is sure to bring out the scientist in you and provide some entertainment as well.
Materials needed:
- Empty plastic water bottle
- Plastic bottle cap
- Scissors
- Alka-Seltzer tablets
- Water
Instructions:
- Fill the water bottle about halfway with water
- Drop in half of an Alka-Seltzer tablet
- Quickly screw on the bottle cap and turn the bottle upside down
- Stand back and watch as the pressure builds up and the cap is propelled off like a rocket!
Experiment tips:
Make sure to do this experiment in an open area and away from any fragile objects. You can also try different amounts of water or Alka-Seltzer to see how it affects the height and distance the cap travels.
