The Bottle Experiment
Looking for a fun and educational science project to do at home? Try the bottle experiment!
Materials Needed:
- Plastic bottle
- Vinegar
- Baking soda
- Balloon
Instructions:
- Fill the plastic bottle with vinegar halfway.
- Add a spoonful of baking soda to the balloon.
- Stretch the balloon over the opening of the bottle without letting the baking soda fall in yet.
- When you are ready, lift the balloon slightly so the baking soda falls into the vinegar. Watch as the balloon fills up with gas!
How it Works:
When the baking soda and vinegar mix, they create a chemical reaction that produces carbon dioxide gas. This gas inflates the balloon, showing the effects of the reaction.
This experiment is not only entertaining, but it also teaches kids about chemical reactions and the properties of gases. Plus, it’s a quick and easy project to do at home with minimal supplies.
Give the bottle experiment a try and see the science in action!
