The reason behind China’s control of the PH Exclusive Economic Zone “EEZ” in the West Philippine Sea.

Posted by

In recent years, there has been growing concern over China’s assertive actions in the West Philippine Sea, particularly with regards to its control over the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The Philippines, along with several other Southeast Asian countries, has long been embroiled in territorial disputes with China in the region. So why is China so keen on exerting control over the Philippines’ EEZ in the West Philippine Sea?

One of the main reasons for China’s interest in the West Philippine Sea is its strategic location. This area is rich in natural resources, including oil and natural gas, and it is a crucial maritime route for international trade. By gaining control over the Philippines’ EEZ, China can assert its dominance in the region and secure valuable resources for its growing economy.

Moreover, the West Philippine Sea holds significant geopolitical importance for China. By exerting control over this area, China can extend its influence in the South China Sea and expand its military presence in the region. Additionally, gaining control over the West Philippine Sea would also allow China to project its power and influence over neighboring countries, thereby bolstering its position as a regional superpower.

China’s actions in the West Philippine Sea are also driven by its desire to assert its historical territorial claims in the region. China has long claimed sovereignty over the South China Sea, based on historical maps and documents that it believes support its claims. By exerting control over the Philippines’ EEZ, China is effectively asserting its historical rights in the region and challenging the legitimacy of the Philippines’ territorial claims.

The Philippines’ EEZ in the West Philippine Sea is also a crucial strategic asset for China’s military ambitions. By controlling this area, China can establish military installations and expand its naval capabilities, thereby strengthening its position in the South China Sea. This has raised concerns among neighboring countries about China’s military expansion and its potential to disrupt the delicate balance of power in the region.

Overall, China’s control over the Philippines’ EEZ in the West Philippine Sea is driven by a combination of strategic, geopolitical, and historical factors. The Philippines, along with other countries in the region, is working to assert its sovereign rights and challenge China’s aggressive actions in the area. It is crucial for the international community to support the Philippines in defending its territorial integrity and upholding the principles of international law in the West Philippine Sea.

The Philippines has an EEZ facing the South China Sea and also the Pacific Ocean. I wonder why the Philippines is only interested in the one facing the SCS…..
Perhaps the Philippines is currently being manipulated by the US?

The usa bought the philippines archipelago including the islands in the spratlys from the spaniards and turned it over to the philippines when it granted its independence. The us has every right to side with the philippines in its sovereignty.

Hindi alam ng China ang salitang diplomasya. Tayo naman ay hanggang protesta lang. Tinatapon lang sa basurahan ang mga protesta natin. Mismong presidente natin ang nagsabing kapirasong papel lang yan.

Why? Because of the US bases. Similar to why Russia is now in Ukraine. If the US would just close its 800 Military bases in foreign territory, the world would be safer.

这次事件让我看到了菲律宾的愚蠢,落后就应该忍气吞声埋头发展,让自己强大,而不是做为别国的炮灰。

China wanted the world to play by their game by flexing military forces . It has it's own unilateral policy on maritime territory in contrast to international law Unclos.

After Military bases of US was dismantled it's a green light for China to implement the salami tactics invasion piece by piece. Now it's clear whose country was behind in fuelling the demonstration to dismantle US military bases in the Philippines.
