The Third Era of React
React, the popular JavaScript library for building user interfaces, has entered its third era. With a focus on performance, scalability, and developer experience, this new era promises to bring exciting improvements to the way we build web applications.
Performance
Performance has always been a key focus for the React team, and the third era is no exception. With improvements to the virtual DOM and the introduction of concurrent mode, React applications are expected to be even faster and more responsive.
Scalability
As web applications continue to grow in complexity, scalability becomes increasingly important. The third era of React introduces features like server-side rendering and improved support for large data sets, making it easier to build and maintain large-scale applications.
Developer Experience
One of the most exciting aspects of the third era is the focus on developer experience. With new tools like the React DevTools Profiler and improved error handling, developers can expect a smoother and more enjoyable experience when building React applications.
Conclusion
The third era of React is an exciting time for developers and users alike. With a renewed focus on performance, scalability, and developer experience, we can expect to see even more powerful and user-friendly web applications in the near future.
Some great points but i dont completely agree with you. Unit tests are usually cheaper to run and it'll ensure that youre not creating any bugs. Also TDD accelerates your development as you know what your goal is on a function. You wouldn't be going back and fixing your code over and over again until something works. Nevertheless safety nets are required our mttr(mean time to resolve) is under 4 minutes unless the issue is caused by something on the infrastructure and have external dependency(AWS goes down) but we still have unit tests. It gives newer engineers and interns confidence when checking in code. Would love to chat on this if you dont agree.
flutter supremacy 🙏🙏
Wait, you mean it's better to render pages on server then ship html to client? Shhhh, listen… That's the sound of PHP devs slow clapping and laughing 😀
In React's third wave everyone moves to Sveltekit because it's soooo much better.
Hooks are garbage and ruined the ecosystem. React never figured out the data flow part of the equation. I've been stuck using React for almost 10 years and it's always felt like it was built by inexperienced developers who are easily distracted by shiny keys. My initial impressions of Sveltekit are someone experienced put a lot of thought into it.
I think it's fair to say that moustache caught me off guard 😬
That's a nice shirt.
I'm confused. This video is sponsored by Vercel but they don't know that this video is being made?
Sorry, late message, but congrats on reaching 100k+ subs, Theo! 👱
1:19 "React is now a server side framework that happens to ship a client side bundle."
Nope. Couldn't be more incorrect.
Hey, Theo, I hope you will see this and answer. What's bad with Parcel. And why do you and everyone recommend migrating/using preferably Vite instead of CRA, and not Parcel, which was around there for a longer time and is even faster?
Maybe I don't understand the purpose of these bundlers or in what Vite outplays Parcel, would be happy to hear in the next videos
Yes, and still we have to deal with this keyword 🤣 fan of class components
LOL. React is becoming php
I totally agree with the premise, but I wish the supporting evidence was stronger than 1 guy switching companies. Is that guy the Linus Torvalds of React?
wow. First they finished their documentation. Now this! Time embrace react fully
React.. server first? Um, no. I don't think so. React with a decent SSR/SSG capability… um… yeah. And, there is a difference.
"thumbnail bait"
As a developer of 24 years now in a professional capacity. It's amusing to me how we are moving back to server rendering again. Albeit now you at least get better ways of handling it through hydration and partial rendering. But it's still kind of amusing to me.
Is that a react-stach?
Omg I stop to watch for 3 months and wtf happened with Theo?! It's Adam Levine/Jared Leto mexican version??
Good shit as always, much love
Stache is lookin good!
