Inside Wagner: The Rise of Russia’s Notorious Mercenaries | VICE Special Report
In recent years, the Russian private military company known as Wagner has gained international notoriety for its shadowy operations in conflict zones around the world. From Ukraine to Syria to Africa, Wagner has been linked to a range of activities including combat operations, training local militias, and protecting critical infrastructure.

A new VICE special report takes viewers inside the secretive world of Wagner, exploring how the company came to be and the impact it has had on global conflicts. The documentary sheds light on the rise of this notorious group and the implications of its operations for international security.

Wagner was founded by Dmitry Utkin, a former Russian military officer with connections to the Kremlin. The company has been described as a “private army” and has been involved in a number of high-profile conflicts, leading to allegations of human rights abuses and war crimes.

One of the most well-known examples of Wagner’s involvement is in Syria, where the company has reportedly played a significant role in supporting the Assad regime. Wagner fighters have been accused of carrying out brutal attacks on civilians and opposition forces, leading to widespread condemnation from the international community.

In Ukraine, Wagner has also been linked to the conflict in the eastern Donbas region, where it has been accused of supporting pro-Russian separatist forces. This has raised concerns about the role of private military companies in fueling and prolonging conflicts, as well as the lack of accountability for their actions.

The VICE special report features interviews with former Wagner fighters, as well as experts and analysts who provide insight into the company’s operations. It also delves into the murky world of private military companies and the challenges they pose for international security.

The rise of Wagner and other private military companies has raised questions about the changing nature of warfare and the role of non-state actors in conflict zones. These companies operate with a level of secrecy and impunity that poses a significant challenge for governments and international organizations seeking to regulate their activities.

The VICE special report on Wagner provides a rare glimpse into the inner workings of this secretive organization, shedding light on its origins, operations, and the impact it has had on global conflicts. It serves as a stark reminder of the complexities and dangers of the modern security landscape, and the need for greater transparency and accountability in the realm of private military companies.

I like how people talk the Wagner group up to be some elite force but in reality 500 of Wagners best stepped up to 60 of Americas best and we farmed them for XP. They sent an armored division we sent an AC-130, They called for backup we called in the MQ-9 Reaper, They begged for mercy and the F-22 delivered it.

Funny that people think this style of long-form fact gathering reporting wasn't around for the past 10 years of VICE. They do stories like this all the time, monthly. The comments are flooded with idiots who think this is some return to form. Methinks political bias has something to do with this view.
