How many people does it take to change a light bulb? According to this guy, you need:
1. Security team member
2. QA team member
2. Engineering team member
4. Product team member

P.S. You also need to have monthly or quarterly meeting with this light bulb managing team, and you also have to know what's the business impact if the light bulb no linger lights up.

Wait a moment. Paid proprietary software did not upgrade itself. Xcode in your example is not open source software. Your thesis is fundamentally wrong.
